CALLING ALL PENGUINS FOR 2025
LPAC: Weekly update (7/2/18)
Dear Penguins and Parents:
Hope everyone had fun on the Raft Trip and enjoyed the swim meet-free weekend! Now we’re into the final sprint of the season. There are only eight practices left before Champs, so please try to come every day if you can!
VERY IMPORTANT: WILL YOU BE AT SILVER CREEK AND/OR CHAMPS?
If your child is going to miss any part of the next two meets, please send email TODAY to coaches@swimlpac.org and volunteers@swimlpac.org.
- Families we know will be missing at least part of the Silver Creek meet on July 7: Cendejas, Delgado, Fumagalli, Fuss, Galindo, Hasse, Hoge, King, Nansen, Ngo, N. Nguyen, Ponder, Quezada, Saemsimuang, Sunderman, Vaidyanath,
- Families we know will be missing at least part of Champs on July 14: Boston, Buchanan, Cendejas, Delgado, Hansen, Ngo, N. Nguyen, Saemsimuang, Tran, Vaidyanath, Vuniwai.
LAST CALL FOR CHAMPS ADS!
So far we’ve had only a few people sign up for Champs Ads. These are a great way to show your penguin pride (maybe celebrate an age-out or graduate?) or advertise for your business. The cost is just $50 for a full-page ad (10″ x 7″), $30 for half-page (5″ x 7″), and $15 for business card size (2.2″ x 3.5″). ALL proceeds benefit LPAC. If you still want to turn in an ad, please email a .jpg or .pdf version directly to Kris Fuss no later than noon tomorrow (7/3). That is the FINAL deadline!
NO PRACTICE ON WEDNESDAY (7/4)
There are no practices on Wednesday, July 4. Have a safe and happy Fourth of July!
PENGUIN POOL PARTY AND TIE-DYE ON FRIDAY (7/6)
This Friday (7/6) is the Penguin Pool Party at Los Paseos Pool from 3-6 pm. There is no charge, but non-Association members will have to pay the party entrance fee at the gate ($1 for kids and $2 for adults). Bring a white or light-colored shirt if you’d like to tie-dye. This is not a drop-off event; swimmers ages 12 and under must have an adult present.
THIS SATURDAY (7/7): SILVER CREEK @ LPAC
Our final dual meet of the season is at home against the Silver Creek Sharks. Last year, LPAC barely squeaked by Silver Creek in our dual meet with a final score of 115.5 to 113.9. We’ll need everyone swimming their best and improving their times to beat the Sharks again this year!
Judy Seps will be collecting money for gifts for the coaches at the meet if you’d like to contribute. This is also the perfect time to turn in forms and payment for the following:
- Champs Meals: Saturday 7/7 is the LAST DAY to turn these in. Late orders will not be accepted.
- Banquet: Meal orders must be turned in by Monday 7/9 at the latest. Although swimmers eat for free, we still need to know how many meals we need to order.
- Swim-a-Thon: Pledges must be turned in by Monday 7/9 to be eligible for prizes. Remember that all donations to LPAC are tax-deductible!
- Beach Trip and/or Spaghetti Dinner: The cost for these events is $8 each, or $15 for both.
BEACH TRIP ON SATURDAY (7/7)
All swimmers in the high school age group are invited to come on the Beach Trip to Twin Lakes State Beach in Santa Cruz on Saturday, July 7. We play on the beach, take a lot of photos, enjoy a BBQ dinner, then build a bonfire and roast marshmallows for s’mores. Plan to meet at the pool at 4:30 pm to arrange carpools. Note that we need parent drivers for this event, as teenagers are not allowed to drive themselves. If you are able to help drive, please reply to this email and let us know how many people you can take. The cost for this event is $8 per swimmer; there is no charge for parent chaperones.

If your swimmer(s) will have to miss any part of either meet, please send email today to coaches@swimlpac.org and to volunteers@swimlpac.org.

THIS WEEK AT PRACTICE

PARK PLAYDATE FOR 8 & UNDERS TODAY (6/25)
Swimmers in the 8 & under practice group are invited to a fun event right after practice on Monday morning (6/25) at Hellyer Park and Splash Pad. Talk to Kira Gardin or other parents if you need help getting your swimmer to or from the park. Parking is $6.
