Here are some quick reminders before our meet against Silver Creek tomorrow! We also have a lot of information about upcoming events! Please read to the end of this email. There is information about pictures from picture day and pictures from the photo booth at the overnighter at the end of this email.

LPAC @ SILVER CREEK: SATURDAY, JUNE 29

• Date: Saturday, June 29, 2024
• Meet starts at 8:30 am
  • Location: Silver Creek Country Club Pool
  • Parking at Silver Oak Elementary School
    5000 Farnsworth Dr, San Jose, California  95138
    Gates of the School Parking lot open at 6:45 am
• Time: LPAC swimmers need to check in with coaches no later than 7:30 am.
• Parents must check in with Volunteer Coordinators by 7:30 am.

BEACH TRIP: JUNE 29

All swimmers in the high school age practice group are invited to attend the traditional LPAC Beach-and-bonfire trip to Twin Lakes State Beach in Santa Cruz. Make sure you register your high school swimmer for the 2024 Beach Trip before the end of the night tonight June 28th. So that organizers can make sure that we  are taking enough food and to make sure that there is enough space for them all in parent driven cars. High Schoolers are not allowed to drive themselves to this event. Check out the Beach Trip page on the website for more information.

CHAMPS DUE DATES

Coach Scott needs to know if your swimmer will be at Champs please email the coaches and volunteer coordinators if you will be missing all or part of the meet on July 13th. Please send an email to  coaches@swimlpac.org and  volunteers@swimlpac.orgTODAY!

Mr Pickles Order Forms and Payments due by tomorrow 6/29. Pay using Zelle (treasurer@swimlpac.org) or turn in check or cash to the Treasurer file in the Family File Folder with your last name and Mr. Pickles clearly labeled.

COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENT JULY 3, 2024

On Wednesday July 3rd, LPAC will be hosting a Community Service Event for all age groups with the help of San Jose Parks and Rec. Please join us as we bring our Penguin Community together to give back and beautify Los Paseos Park

• Age Group: All age groups
• Date: Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024
• HS Practice will be at regular time; 6:45-7:45
• 12-14 practice will be shortened that day: 7:45-8:30
• Time: 8:45-12:00 pm
• Location: Los Paseos Park. Meet at Los Paseos Park at 8:40 am .
• Waiver: Everyone participating must fill out a Volunteer Waiver 2024. Turn in your waiver to the “ACTIVITIES” folder in the family files.

SPLASH & DASH PLEDGES DUE BY JULY 5TH

 The 2024 Splash & Dash is raising money to cover three things this year:

•  The new black and white backstroke flags that we use during meets. 
• The beautiful brick pathway that was imagined, organized, laid out and made possible by LPAC’s very own Dylan D., who is working on attaining the rank of Eagle from Troop 286. This was his Eagle project and LPAC has to reimburse him. 
• This summer we will be patching the LPAC shed floor, which is key to keeping our LPAC equipment in good shape for years to come. 

To be eligible for your Penguin to receive any Splash & Dash prize they need to have turned in a pledge sheet and money to the Splash & Dash folder in the back of the Swimmer File Folders or given directly to Kelly by July 5th. Thank you for participating in this years Splash & Dash!

RAFT TRIP: JULY 6, 2024

If you are going on the Raft Trip, please fill out a separate waiver forms for each person who will be rafting and turn in forms to the “RAFT TRIP” folder ASAP.

END OF SEASON BANQUET: JULY 14, 2024

The End of Season Banquet is our chance to celebrate the swimmers, the coaches, the families, the sponsors and especially the age-outs. For one last time, we’ll all get together to have dinner, pass out trophies, say goodbye to our age-out swimmers, and celebrate another great season. 

• Date: Sunday, July 14, 2024 @. 4:30 to 8:00 PM
• Place: Los Paseos Clubhouse back lawn area
• Meal Choices in Banquet Form
• Cost: Swimmers eat free but must turn in 2024 LPAC Banquet form to reserve a meal.
• Additional meals: Price $15 for each additional meal.. You MUST order extra meals in advance; orders will not be accepted at the door.
• Payment Options:
  • Check: Make checks payable to LPAC and put your checks in the TREASURER folder in the family files with Banquet written in Notes section on Check.
  • Zelle: Use Zelle to pay Justin Katz at treasurer@swimlpac.org, Include “LPAC 2024 Banquet” with Swimmer Family Last Name in memo.

END OF SEASON GIFTS FOR COACHES

Judy Seps will be collecting contributions for coaches gifts at the meet on June 29th. As a reminder we do have 6 coaches this year. You may contribute with cash, check, or Venmo @judyseps (last four digits of her phone number are 3532). All funds will be pooled together to purchase gift cards. We will present the gift cards and Thank You cards to each coach at the LPAC banquet. This is your last chance so find Judy!

Dear Penguin Friends,

CHAMPS is FAST approaching, this message is to help families prepare. The Valley Cabana Swim League, the league that LPAC is part of, has to pay to use the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center. They have to pay for over 700 ribbons and trophies for the top teams. The two items in this email will help the league with off setting costs for CHAMPS.  Mr. Pickles gives a percentage of how much they make the day of Champs back to the league and Champ Ads are priced so that the league gets a portion of the proceeds. Help the League by purchasing these so that all of the teams do not have to split the full cost of going to Champs.

~ PRE-ORDER CHAMPS FOOD NOW ~

Champs is a long hot day, and it is nice to have your food planned out. The league has partnered with Mr. Pickles to have a lunch delivered to the Morgan Hill Aquatic Center for CHAMPS attendees.  We must prepay for our Mr. Pickles meals.  Fill out the Mr. Pickles form here and pre-payment is due Satuday 6/29 to the family file folder box under the treasurer’s folder or via zelle with the email treasurer@swimlpac.org.  

Family file folder boxes are out at every practice and will be out at our meet at Silver Creek on Saturday 6/29 at the ribbons table. 
 

~ CHAMPS ADS TIMELINE ~

Purchase your Champs Ads before July 2nd. Champs Ads go in the Valley Cabana League Program that will be available for purchase on the day of Champs. It is a nice way to tell your swimmer “Great Job this year”, they are especially nice for our age-outs. A little note from the parents with a picture of them when they were a little penguin and now as a grown up penguin.

Champs Programs will be in black and white. Ads are placed by team in the Program. Here is an example of a Champs Ad from Montevideo.

Pricing is as follows:

1/8 of a page: $12.50 (send in vertical layout)

1/4 of a page: $25.00 (send in either horizontal or vertical layout)

1/2 of a page: $50.00 (most commonly used for aging out swimmers – send in horizontal layout)

Full Page: $100.00 (most commonly used for aging out swimmers)

DEADLINE JULY 2nd

Dear Penguin Family,

Great swimming on Saturday! LPAC defeated the Oaktree Sharks with a score of 106.8 to 99.6. Way to Go Penguins! LPAC is now 4-0 in dual meets so far! It is our greatest hope that your swimmer had a fun time at the Cardboard Boat Races and Overnighter. 

LPAC@ SILVER CREEK: SATURDAY, JUNE 29

• If your child will have to miss all or part of the meet against Silver Creek or Champs, please send an email to coaches@swimlpac.org and  volunteers@swimlpac.org TODAY! This is so important.
• The swimmers that we know will be missing all or part of the Silver Creek meet are: Gabriela C., Ethan H., Wesley H., Ben H., Rachel H., Maleah K., Micah K., Gus M., Cruz M-S., Kalila N., Sophie N., Joseph O., Cameron P., Lucas P., Serena P., Theo P., Adelina R., Olivia S., & Viola S.
• Check in time for the Silver Creek meet will be at 7:00 am. 

CHAMPS: JULY 13, 2024

• The coaches need to prepare the Champs meet entries ahead of time. It is very important that they know if your swimmer will be missing part or all of Champs. Champs is an all day event usually lasting from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm or so. Be prepared to spend the day with your Penguin family!
• So far, the swimmers that we know will be missing all or part ofChamps will be: Maleah K., Micah K., Gus M., Cruz M-S., Adelina R., & Liam R. 
• Thank you to the families that let the Coaches know well in advance that their swimmers will miss all or part of the meets. It makes planning for the meets much easier. If you know you or your swimmer will be missing all or parts of meets please let us know in advance, if possible.

SPLASH & DASH PLEDGES DUE BY JULY 5TH

In 2024, we had 102 out of 147 Swimmers participate amongst all of the practice age groups. These 102 swimmers swan a total of 7,740 laps. Now that is what we call Penguin Power! We are Penguin Strong! The 2024 Splash & Dash is raising money to cover three things this year:

• The beautiful new brick pathway that was imagined, organized, laid out and made possible by LPAC’s very own Dylan D., who is working on attaining the rank of Eagle from Troop 286. This was his Eagle project and LPAC agreed to reimburse him for the materials he used. We are so proud of him for making this a reality. 
• This summer we will be patching the LPAC shed floor, which is key to keeping our LPAC equipment in good shape for years to come. So that critters (insects and vermin) don’t make our shed their home and so that we do not have to replace equipment so often..

Please help us to accomplish these three important expenditures that were not budgeted for by our board. Don’t worry you can still collect pledges even after the Splash & Dash is over by printing out a Splash & Dash 2024 Pledge sheet. All donations are tax deductible. Turn in pledge sheets and money to the Splash & Dash folder in the back of the swimmer folders by July 5th in order to be eligible to win Penguin Prizes.

PRACTICES  

 Practice times are available on the website.

*Night practices are available to swimmers who are unable to attend morning practice because of summer school or work commitments, on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00-9:00 pm. Swimmers must have coaches’ prior permission to attend night practices.
