THE GEORGE ROHRBACHER AWARD
LPAC’s most prestigious award is named in honor of George Rohrbacher, a Los Paseos resident and San Jose firefighter. George was a nearly constant presence at the pool, serving as clubhouse manager, lifeguard, and unofficial swim team spirit booster for many years.
When George died of lung cancer in 1998, he left behind a tremendous legacy of generosity, positive energy, and enthusiasm for the swim team and the entire Los Paseos community. The boulder with the shark-fin plaque in front of the clubhouse is dedicated in his memory.
To honor George’s legacy, each year LPAC presents the swimmer who most exemplifies team spirit with a special heart-shaped trophy that has become known simply as “The George Award.”
