https://swimlpac.org/team-info/registration
Please have forms with payment mailed or dropped off at the clubhouse by March 9th. If you know any friends and neighbors interested in swimming for our team, walk in registration is March 23rd from 8:30-9:15.
If you know anyone interested in coaching our team, please direct them to our website and the coaching application under the coaching tab at the top or send them this link.
LPAC: Post-Season Roundup
Dear Penguins and Parents:
Thanks to all for another great swim season and banquet! Just a few end-of-season things:
- If you did not attend the Banquet, you can pick up your trophies and ribbons at Coach Scott’s house. Please send email to info@swimlpac.org to arrange a time. After this week, they’ll go back into the container until next season.
- For a limited time, you can view or download the 2018 video here: LPAC 2018 Team Video. Thanks again to the video team for making this available to all!
- Thinking about swimming year-round? Coach Ryan has extended an invitation for any and all penguins to join him at South Valley Stingrays (just up the road at Rancho Santa Teresa), and you can try it out any time for a week at no charge. There are also other excellent teams in the area that offer flexible programs; see the Year-Round Swimming page on the team website for more information. You can also send mail to coaches@swimlpac.org or talk to any of the year-round swim families to discuss which program might work best for you.
Enjoy the rest of your summer…GO PENGUINS!
LPAC: Friday reminders (7/13/18)
Well, that sure went quick. This is already the last Friday email of the swim season!
CHAMPS CHECK-IN: 7:00 AM
Remember: swimmers need to check in tomorrow no later than 7:00 am at the Morgan Hill Aquatic Center (16200 Condit Road). Meet entries and volunteer assignments have been posted to the Champs page of the website.
Please leave plenty of time to drive to Morgan Hill, park, and locate the check-in table in our designated team area. LPAC will be in the same location as last year, in the middle of the grassy area at the warmup end of the pool (see map posted to the Champs page of the website). Gates will not open until 6:15 am, so please do not arrive before then.
If your child is ill, please call or text Coach Scott at 408-613-5126.
Parents, please check in at the volunteer table and be sure to listen for announcement and shift changes. Because we are only running 9 lanes this year instead of 10, the meet will probably run a little longer than usual. We need everyone’s help to make shift changes as quick and smooth as possible. Please arrive early for your shift and do not leave your volunteer post until your replacement arrives.
If you pre-ordered Snack Bar or Mr. Pickle meals, you can pick up your tickets when you check in with the Volunteer Coordinators. We encourage you to purchase a program, food, and t-shirts — all proceeds help our team and the league pay for Champs!
One final reminder: do not leave the meet early without checking out with the coaches. We may need your swimmer to sub on a relay.
SPAGHETTI DINNER TONIGHT FOR TEENAGERS
The Spaghetti Dinner (for all swimmers ages 13-18) is tonight at the clubhouse from 6-7 pm; the cost is $8 per swimmer. Thank you to the Blacow family for coordinating this event, and to all the parents who volunteered to bring food and help out. Don’t forget to bring your cars if you want them decorated for Champs!
BANQUET ON SUNDAY
The LPAC Team Awards Banquet will be on Sunday starting at 4:30 pm. Remember to bring your own folding chairs, EZ-Ups, or blankets to sit on. We look forward to getting everyone together one last time to hand out trophies and celebrate another great season!
SPIRIT NIGHT THANKS
Special thanks to Adrienne Burke for coordinating the Swim-a-Thon and other fun raffle prizes and to Sergio and Heather Castro, Carl and Jennie Anderson, Judy Seps, Rob Lombardi, and Coach Ryan for working together all season long to put together the great team video! We’ll share a link in an upcoming email in case you missed the show.
GO PENGUINS!
LPAC: Weekly update (7/9/18)
Dear Penguins and Parents:
Congratulations on a great win over the Silver Creek Sharks! LPAC won by a final score of 104.8 to 101.1, giving us a 4-1 record in the regular season (behind only the Oaktree Sharks, who went 5-0). Now it’s time to gear up for Champs this Saturday!
ANOTHER GARDIN ON THE RECORD BOARD
Paige Gardin joined her daddy Charlie on the LPAC record board with a blazing-fast backstroke time of 23.10. This breaks the 5-6 girls’ record that has stood for 30 years, set in 1988 by Monica Dournaee. Great swim Miss Paige!
SPIRIT WEEK
For the last week of practices before Champs, we’ll be having fun dress-up days and snacks. Come every day if you can!
- Monday Morning: Come in your jammies; bed-head hair is encouraged
- Twin Tuesday: Match with a friend or dress up like a coach
- Would You Be My Friend If I Wore This Wednesday: Dress weird and wacky
- Thports Thursday: Wear your favorite sports team jersey
- Formal Friday: Dress up in black and white or penguin gear
LAST CHANCE FOR SWIM-A-THON PLEDGES!
Monday (7/9) is the LAST day to turn in your Swim-a-Thon pledges to be eligible for prizes. Thank you for generously supporting the team and helping raise money to buy a new electronic event board! All donations are tax-deductible.
GIFTS FOR COACHES
If you’d like to contribute to gifts for our coaches, please see Judy Seps by Thursday. She will be at practices this week, or you can call her at 408-506-3532.
SPIRIT NIGHT ON THURSDAY
This Thursday (July 12) is Spirit Night at the clubhouse from 7-9 pm. The swimmers will meet out on the grass and picnic tables to eat pizza, decorate posters to hang up at Champs, and elect swimmer reps for next year. Meanwhile, parents have a meeting about Champs and vote to elect next year’s Board members. We have a lot of openings for the Board this year, so we encourage all families to come and vote. After all the business is taken care of, we’ll all pack into the clubhouse for Swim-a-Thon awards and a slide show/video celebrating the season, paying tribute to our graduates and age-outs, and energizing the team to do their best at Champs.
If you haven’t already purchased raffle tickets for the excursions with coaches, Adrienne Burke will be selling them at Spirit Night before the awards. Don’t miss out on the chance to have a fun adventure with your favorite coaches and help support the team too!
BRING YOUR EZ-UPS ON THURSDAY!
If you’re planning to bring an EZ-Up to Champs, please bring it to Spirit Night on Thursday evening. Leave it in your car until after the slide show is over, when we’ll collect them for the Setup Crew to take down to Morgan Hill. Please bring 10×10 tents only, and be sure they are labelled clearly with your last name. This way the Setup Crew can set them up ahead of time on Friday night and organize them into orderly rows with clear pathways in between. If you’d like tents to be grouped together, please use the same names and/or color tape, and we’ll try to keep them together if possible.
SPAGHETTI DINNER ON FRIDAY
All teenage swimmers (13-18) are invited to “carbo-load” with their teammates at the Spaghetti Dinner at the clubhouse from 6-7 pm. The cost is $8 per swimmer. Bring your car if you’d like to have it decorated to show your penguin pride. Thank you to the Blacow family for coordinating this event and all the other parent volunteers who are bringing food and helping out.
We’ll have lots more information about Champs at Spirit Night…look forward to seeing you all there!

Our final dual meet of the season is at home against the Silver Creek Sharks. Last year, LPAC barely squeaked by Silver Creek in our dual meet with a final score of 115.5 to 113.9. We’ll need everyone swimming their best and improving their times to beat the Sharks again this year!

SWIM-A-THON NEXT TUESDAY
Our annual Swim-a-Thon team fundraiser will be next Tuesday, June 26, during regular practice times. Kids are encouraged to get pledges and swim as many laps as they can to earn money for the team and be eligible for fun prizes. This year our goal is to earn enough to purchase a new electronic display that will show what event and heat are in the pool. Pledge forms can be downloaded from the Swim-a-Thon web page. People can pledge a certain amount per lap or just make a flat donation; all checks should be made payable to “LPAC.” All donations are tax-deductible. Note that we will need parent volunteers to count laps for each practice group.
MORE FORMS DUE JUNE 26
As we sprint to the end of the season, be sure to get your forms and payment in to the ACTIVITIES folder by Tuesday, June 26 for the following events:
- Champs Ads – show your penguin pride with an ad in the Champs program! 100% of proceeds benefit LPAC. Forms are posted to the Champs web page, or contact Kris Fuss for more information.
- Champs Meals – Don’t let anyone go hungry! Get your pre-order in for the snack bar and/or Mr. Pickles. Proceeds help the league pay for Champs (so LPAC doesn’t have to pay more). Forms are posted on the Champs web page.
- Banquet: Swimmers eat for free, but we still need to know how many people are coming. You can also order extra meals for parents, siblings, and other friends and family who would like to join us. See the Banquet web page to download the order form.

LPAC: Upcoming activities
Dear Penguins and Parents:
It’s hard to believe, but there are only 4 weeks left in the swim season…and they are going to go by FAST! We have a lot of fun events packed into this last month.
To minimize the number of forms and checks, we’re trying to consolidate as much as possible. If you’d like, you can pay for any (or all) of these events with one check tomorrow when you drop your kids off at the Overnighter.
First, please complete the online LPAC Events Response Form. This takes just a couple of minutes, and your responses will let our treasurer (Julie Webb) know the total amount you owe. Note this will not actually process your payment online, but you will be signed up for the events and then just need to write one check payable to “LPAC.”
This form includes signups for:
- Champs Program Ads ($15 for business card, $30 for half-page, $50 for full-page) – Note that artwork and copy must be submitted to Kris Fuss by June 26
- Swim-a-Thon (you can make an optional flat donation now, or collect pledges per lap when kids swim on June 26)
- Raft Trip on June 30 ($25 per person) – Note you still need to complete the Sunshine Rafting waiver for each participant
- Beach Trip for High School age group on July 7 ($8 per swimmer or $15 combined with Spaghetti Dinner; no charge for parent drivers)
- Spaghetti Dinner (ages 13+) on July 13 ($8 per person or $15 combined with Beach Trip)
- Banquet on July 15 (free for swimmers; $10 for adults; $8 for children 12 & under)
Note this form does NOT include order forms for Champs meals, as we are still waiting for some details about those. You will have the option to pre-order meals from the Snack Bar or from Mr. Pickles. Stay tuned for more details and forms next week!
See you all at Oaktree tomorrow morning…
