LPAC Week 3: New Practice Times and New Activities!

Week #3 Starts Today!

Time Trials are done!
(Gee that was quick)

Great job with Time Trials Swimmers and Parents. See Time Trial Results here. Our New Families (18 new families, if you are counting) all made it through the process, with their swimmers swimming and parents volunteering! It sure did seem like everything was new, because we have not done this in 2 years. Next week will run even better. It will be our first ever Virtual Meet.

Happenings this week?

We will be getting ready for our first Virtual Meet featuring:

  • Fly, IM & Free
  • Medley & Free Relays

So the focus this week will be ButterFly and Freestyle.

New Practice Times:

High Schoolers will all swim together beginning at 6:30 AM. And everyone gets more time in the pool!

Effective TODAY June 21, New Practice Times will be:

  • 6:30 – 7:30 am: All High School Swimmers
  • 7:30 – 8:15 am: 13 -14
  • 8:15 – 9:00 am: 11 – 12
  • 9:00  – 9:40 am: 8 – 10
  • 9:40 – 10:20 am: 5 – 7

*Be on time and ready to swim, restrooms are not available.*

The Basics of a Virtual Meet:

At a Virtual Meet each team swims at its own home pool, and the data is shared between the competing teams after the meet. The final results are tabulated and will be presented on Monday, so we do not know which team wins until two days later. . . anticipation (can you hear that song?).  We are adding a bit more fun to this event for our swimmers and here are a few more details:

  1. Ribbons will be awarded for performance within our own LPAC Team, meaning a 1st place ribbon may not correlate with your swimmer’s performance across the league results.
  2. We will NOT be acknowledging LPAC Team Records as official.
That is all you need to know for now.

LPAC VOLUNTEER Positions – Respond to coordinators by Tuesday, June 15th

Volunteering is Caring and We Need You!

Hello LPAC Swim Families

LPAC is run by volunteers. Cecie Boston and Jill Hoge are the volunteer coordinators for the year. We thank you for your support. Volunteers are the backbone to this wonderful swim program.

In 2021, we will have two volunteer shifts without the presence of the competing team. Currently, training  a new CLERK OF THE  COURSE, Starters, Computers and Announcers is a priority. The meet cannot run without them. Please consider these jobs. Computers are not listed on this document but we need people to train. Contact us if you are interested.

Each LPAC family with one swimmer must provide at least one adult volunteer to work at least one shift at each meet. Each family with three or more swimmers must provide at least two volunteer shifts at each meet. Occasionally families will need to volunteer for additional shifts at meets. In addition to working volunteer shifts, each LPAC family will be responsible to clean up at one of our meets. This year, we are trying to PRE-ASSIGN volunteer position shifts and not use sign up genius.

Per our bylaws, families who do not fulfill their parent support obligations will not be in good standing with the club, and their swimmers will not be allowed to return to the team the following year.  In addition, a monetary fee may be assessed to compensate for the lack of participation.

Current Meet Schedule: We need a parent to volunteer at EVERY meet your child is swimming. (Mark your calendar)

  1. June 19, 2021 Time Trials
  2. June 26, 2021 1st Virtual Meet
  3. July 10, 2021 2nd Virtual Meet
  4. July 17, 2021 3rd Virtual Meet

***No Champs This Year***

Please review the list of volunteer jobs we need to fill attached to this email. This rough draft contains the names of those who performed the job in 2019. At the end of the document is a list of names from 2019 of those who were timers, recorders and clean up crew. Returning families have priority for the jobs they had from 2019. If you do not verify your position this week, then your job may go to another family. Look at the website for a list of volunteer job descriptions: https://swimlpac.org/team-info/volunteering/ or contact the coordinators to help explain the jobs to you.

PLEASE REVIEW THIS DOCUMENT CAREFULLY AND COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING:

  1.  Find your name on the list & verify you want this position.
  2.  Can’t find your name on the list, then let us know what job you want.
  3.  Every family needs to email or call/text the volunteer coordinators ASAP, or by Tuesday June 15th   at the latest. Contact info below: volunteers@swimlpac.org or text / call Jill Hoge at 408-425-1504.

Please include the following information in your email:

  1. Name of swimmers
  2. Name of Parents or Guardians volunteering
  3. What job and shift you want and which parent or guardian is doing the shift. (Name Top three  choices. Example: 1st Choice Timer 1st Shift, 2nd choice Recorder 2nd Shift, Third Choice: Snack  Bar 2nd Shift)
  4. What meets, if any, your child is going to miss
  5. Pick a meet that you want to help clean up at with the name of the parent or guardian that is going to help volunteer to clean up. It goes very quickly when we have a ton of families helping.

Thank you! We appreciate all your help. Please respond ASAP.
