Dear Penguins and Parents:

Hope everyone had a great time at Penguin Madness! Now the madness really begins as we prepare for our first meet of the season (Time Trials) this Saturday.

TIME TRIALS: SATURDAY, MAY 27
Time Trials will be this Saturday, May 27.

  • Swimmers and parents should check in between 7:00 and 7:15 am.
  • Coach Scott will have a brief meeting for new swimmers and their parents after warm-ups.
  • The meet should be done around 1:00 pm.
  • If you are new to the team, check out the Swim Meet Survival Tips article on the website for some helpful advice about what to bring, what to wear, etc.
  • If your child will not be able to attend Time Trials, you need to let the coaches and volunteer coordinators know ASAP if you have not done so already. Please send an email to coaches@swimlpac.org and volunteers@swimlpac.org.
  • Any swimmers who do not attend Time Trials must come to the make-up day on Tuesday, May 30 at 6:00 pm.

MEMORIAL DAY SWIM CLINIC: MONDAY, MAY 29

There are no regular team practices on Memorial Day (Monday, May 29), but swimmers are invited to attend an optional Swim Clinic that morning from 9:00 to 10:30 am. The coaches will be working with small groups of kids on diving from the blocks, backstroke starts, pulldowns, and all types of turns. Swimmers who want to work on any of these skills are welcome to attend. Swimmers do not need to stay the whole time; they are welcome to drop in at any time and leave whenever they’d like.

TIME TIRALS MAKE-UP DAY: TUESDAY, MAY 30

Swimmers who cannot attend Time Trials on Saturday must come to Make-Up Day on Tuesday, May 30 at 6:00 pm. Parents are expected to stay and volunteer as timers and recorders during Make-Up Day. Please arrive on time! Please note there will be no regular night practices on Tuesday.

PENGUIN MADNESS:
Penguin Madness is on Friday, May 19 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
Pizza will be available starting at 5:30 pm.

Penguin Madness Teams are all set! Swimmers are encouraged to wear the color of their designated penguin team. We can’t wait to see everyone there! If you did not register your penguins by Wednesday night your penguins can still participate in the Madness! We will place them on a team when they arrive.

  • This is a family event. Parents and siblings are invited to come and cheer on their favorite penguins.
  • Bring your own folding chairs or blankets to sit on.
  • The coaches will referee the events.

TEAM SUIT SIZING EVENT: 
If you would like your swimmer try on suits, please come to the pool early and plan to have your swimmer try on suits BEFORE they get in the water. It is much more difficult to try on suits after a swimmer is wet.

OFFICIAL TEAM BREAKFAST SOCIAL AND HIKE:
Come join us for our first team event of the season, our Official Team Breakfast and Hike on Saturday, May 6th. Please come for a fun hike and then munch on brunch food and drinks.

Pre-Season LPAC Reminders

Swim season is almost here! Just a few quick notes and reminders:

TEAM SUITS:
If you would like to order a new team suit this season, use the 2023 LPAC Team Suit Order Form. The form includes a sizing guide for ordering. Orders must be placed by April 30, 2023 to have your suit in time for the first swim meet. We do NOT have a sizing kit for swimmers to try on suits.

Swimmers who choose not to purchase a team swim suit must have a solid black suit to use for team picture day and meets. If you already have a team suit from last year (and it still fits!), you do not need to purchase a new suit.

VOLUNTEER JOBS:
All returning families need to fill out the Volunteer Jobs Form. If you have not filled it out yet, please do so now.

NEW FAMILY MEETING on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 7:00 pm: Prospective Penguin Families are required to have at least one parent attend this meeting. The meeting generally lasts about one hour. Kids are welcome but not expected to attend. Returning families are not required to attend.

LPAC 2023 New Family Registration

New Family Registration 

Thank you for your interest in Joining LPAC! Los Paseos Aquatic Club (LPAC) is a family-oriented summer swim team. We provide children in the Los Paseos community the opportunity to participate in competitive swimming in a fun, friendly, and supportive environment. Team members range in age from 5 to 18 years old.

The LPAC swim team is limited to 150 swimmers, and we typically have only a few openings each year. Follow the steps below to register your swimmer(s). Each part of the process is time sensitive.

STEP 1: Complete New Family Registration Forms

New Family Registration Forms* and Payment must be submitted no later than March 25th to:

*You must submit a printed hard copy of your registration forms. No digital forms will be accepted. Your payment will not be applied until your swimmer(s) makes the team. If we are unable to offer your swimmer(s) a spot on the team, your registration fees will be refunded to you.

STEP 2: Reserve a Swimmer Slot on March 25th at 8:00 AM

All new families must sign up for Open Online Registration, which is held through SignUp Genius. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. You might want to register as close as possible to 8:00 AM to improve your chances of getting on the team. Swimmer slots fill up fast! For more information, see Registration. The SignUp Genius link is active only on March 25, 2023 from 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM

  • We will email the results from the New Family registration to you by April 5, 2023.
  • The New Family Meeting will be held on April 20, 2023 at the Los Paseos Clubhouse.
  • New Swimmer Tryouts will begin on April 24, 2023.
  • Highest registration priority is given to members of the Los Paseos Association.
  • Next priority is given to those families who live within the LPA boundaries (south of Bernal/west of 101/east of the golf course). 
  • Families who are not part of the Los Paseos neighborhood but live within a 5-mile radius of the pool are also eligible to join the team, if there are openings.
  • If we are unable to offer your swimmer(s) a spot on the LPAC swim team, your registration fees will be refunded to you.
