SWIM LESSONS

Though our LPAC coaches focus on stroke technique every day at practice, there’s only so much they can do with 30-40 kids in the pool at one time. Individual or small-group swim lessons can be a great way to improve your strokes, starts, and turns even more.

We are fortunate to have  several excellent options in our neighborhood for individualized stroke instruction for all ages.

LOS PASEOS ASSOCIATION SWIM LESSONS

Many of the LPAC “big buddies” also teach swim lessons at the Los Paseos Pool. There are four 2-week sessions throughout June and July; classes are taught in the mornings and early evenings. See the LPHOA website (lphoa.org) for more details and sign-up forms.

SWIM LESSONS WITH MRS. T: LPAC’S SECRET WEAPON

Janet Thorsrud, aka “Mrs. T,” is a former Los Paseos coach who now teaches private swim lessons in her backyard pool, which is heated to a comfortable 90 degrees. She is an excellent resource who has helped many penguins refine their strokes. Starting in April, you can reserve lesson times on her website (mrs-ts-swim-lessons.com). Sign up early if you can…slots fill up quickly!

QUICKSILVER SWIMMING

QuickSilver Swimming offers the American Red Cross six-level Learn-to-Swim program as well as private and group lessons. The program is designed for children all the way up to adults, and students progress through the levels at their own pace, mastering the skills in one level before advancing to the next. Check the QuickSilver website for more details.

AVAC SWIM SCHOOL

You can also sign up for private and semi-private lessons all year long at the indoor pool at Almaden Valley Athletic Club (AVAC). See avac.us for more information.
