RAFT TRIP: SATURDAY, JULY 1, 2023

The Raft Trip is finally here!

  • Location: 18210 Sonora Road, Knights Ferry, CA (1800 Covered Bridge Rd., according to apple maps).
  • Time: Please arrive early at 8:30, so we can walk down to launch at 9am.

Jennie Anderson will turn in all waivers and then receive wristbands. No waiver, no wristband. We are a group reservation so we need to all be present in order for our trip to begin.
We can stop at Horseshoe park for lunch which is about halfway.

When we get off the rafts we wait for shuttles to bring us back to the parking lot.  Before heading home or into Oakdale for the night, many LPAC families like to stop at the Knights Ferry Creamery 17631 Sonora Rd, Knights Ferry, CA 95361 for a treat.

If you plan on staying in Oakdale for the night, I would like to suggest that we meet at dinner time at Backwoods Burgers – 1214 W F St, Oakdale, CA 95361. Backwoods Burgers has family style seating and we order at the counter so we don’t need to wait for a server. There are TV’s with sports and news and many LPAC families can be together.  But there are many other delicious restaurants in Oakdale, feel free to explore.

After dinner an ultimate frisbee game may be taking place for the high school group at Brennan Park on Pedersen Rd. The coaches or swimmer reps will post on Remind.

Finally, at dark we meet for fireworks (if anyone was able to procure fireworks) on East Ave between the Motel 6 and Apostolic Assembly By- Faith. I’ll bring a bucket and lighters.
Finally it’s lights out – Thank you for joining! GO LPAC!

If you have fireworks and are planning to stay, please bring some to share at dark. Jennie’s cell number is 408-896-1517.

LPAC: Raft Trip Update

Dear Penguins and Parents:

If you are interested in either buying or selling Raft Trip seats, we have created a Raft Trip Exchange Spreadsheet where you can list your name as either a buyer or a seller, so that interested families can contact one another to buy/sell seats directly.

If you are going on the Raft Trip, don’t forget to complete your waiver forms for each person who will be rafting and turn in forms to the “ACTIVITIES” folder by June 25th.

Raft Trip Exchange Spreadsheet

***Email from Sunshine Rafting – July 4th Weekend Conditions Update

Hi Rafters,

We hope you are all looking forward to your July rafting trip!  We recently received updated projections from the state regarding flows, and we wanted to keep you and your group up to date!

Flows over July 4th Weekend (July 1-4) are projected to be at 750CFS!

This is a fairly “normal” flow, and is no longer in the high flow category.  We do recommend you know how to swim, children need to be 5 or older, and you need one adult per child in your group!  You can find detailed flow breakdowns here.

Alcohol is NOT banned at this flow, but we do have some updated rules around alcohol:

1) Hard alcohol is not allowed on board our rafts
2) Groups are allowed one 60-quart ice chest per raft.  ALL adult beverages must go into this ice chest.  Groups that bring alcohol in backpacks, bags, or otherwise will be forced to put all of those beverages in their ice chest, or can be turned away.  This is done to limit the number of adult beverages per raft, in an attempt to reduce groups from consuming excessive amounts of alcohol.

Do note that projections CAN change.  If they do change, we will reach out as soon as we have updated information. These decisions are made at the state level, and we simply pass information along as it is passed to us.

If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call between 10:00AM and 4:00PM 7 days a week at 209-848-4800.

LPAC: Weekly Update (6/19/23)
